1. On the waterfront in Plasmolen

Camping Eldorado in Plasmolen is one such place where the outdoor feeling starts right away. The campsite is located on the Mookerplas and has its own marina. That makes this a fine base if you like camping with water all around you and want to explore the north of Limburg at the same time. Here, Plasmolen and the Mookerheide are nicely located close to each other, with plenty of opportunities to go out and then relax on the water.

Editor's tip:
First explore the Mookerheide via the 3-kilometre hiking trail and then slide into Pancake Bakery Plasmolen. Especially with children, this is a fine combo. First go outside, then pancakes on the table.

2. Farm feeling in Beringe

BoeBaDoe FarmCamps in Beringe is one such place where the outdoors and comfort come together beautifully. Here, you stay on an active dairy farm, in glamping tents among the cows and chickens. That makes this a great base if you are looking for the camping feeling, but like a little more convenience. Especially with children, this is one big adventure. The yard, the animals and the rhythm of the farm will soon make your stay here a memory in itself.

Want to get out and about? Then take a trip to Strandbad BreeBronne and hang out at the beach bar afterwards. With water, sand and something tasty to go with it, this is one of those afternoons that just ends up being longer than planned.

3. Between Smakt and Venray in the green

Camping De Oude Barrier in Smakt is one such place where you are quiet but have plenty of everything around you. Located in a wooded area between Smakt and Venray, the campsite is small-scale and child-friendly. With outdoor pools and lots of greenery around you, this is a fine base for families who like to be outdoors. You're just secluded enough here for peace and quiet, but in a place where a nice afternoon or a spontaneous outing is easily found.

4. Quiet accommodation between Venlo and Arcen

Hovershof Farm and Minicamping in Velden is one of those places where you automatically slow down. The campsite is right on the Pieterpad and near the river Maas. That makes this a fine base if you like small-scale camping but want to get out and about easily. The farm environment gives the stay something cosy. Just being outside and having all the space you need to let the day unfold quietly.

Editor's tip:
Make a day out of Arcen. First stroll through the Kasteeltuinen Arcen and then get an ice cream at IJssalon Clevers Arcen, with terrace by the river Meuse. That way you have flowers, water and something delicious in one afternoon.

5. On the edge of the Maasduinen in Nieuw Bergen

Farm Campsite De Smal in Nieuw Bergen is one such place where you can feel nature close at hand right away. The campsite is on the edge of National Park De Maasduinen and within walking distance of the centre of Nieuw Bergen. That makes this a fine base if you like to combine peace and convenience. It's green and quiet, but also easy to get to the village. From here, you can discover the Maasduinen without having to look far.

Take a trip to Bleijenbeek Castle ruins in Afferden and then settle down at Boscafé 't Rimpelt. First look around the ruins, then coffee, lunch or something fresh in the middle of the greenery.

6. Camping among fruit trees in Sevenum

Bergerhof Sleeping in Sevenum is one of those places where you immediately feel like staying a bit longer. You camp here on a historic farm, with a mini-campsite among the fruit trees. That makes this a great base if you like rural camping and like a place that stays small and manageable. Here you are in a quiet place, but with plenty of outings nearby. That makes it easy to combine being outdoors and going out.

Forest Camp De Okkernoot in Swolgen is one such place that automatically makes you feel a little quieter. The mini campsite is located just outside the village, right by woods and heathland, with the Pieterpad nearby. You sleep here on a small scale, quietly and close to nature. That makes this a fine base if you like to spend a few days outdoors, without crowds around you. Here, being outdoors doesn't start with an outing, but simply as soon as you put down your camping chair.

Take a trip to Arcen and dive into the world of beer at the Hertog Jan Proeverij. Afterwards, you need look no further, as you can immediately settle down there for something delicious to go with it too.

Camping De Bloksberg in Gennep is one such place where you really are in the middle of the greenery. Located in the Maasduinen region, the campsite stands out because of the natural water on site. That makes this a fine base if you prefer to leave days outside wide open. A quick trip into the woods, then back to your spot and see what else you feel like doing. Landgoed De Gortmeule in Horst is one such place where outdoor living feels naturally simple. You sleep here between orchard, yard and field, on a small-scale campsite with plenty of peace and quiet around you. That makes this a fine base if you like to unwind in a place with its own character. The greenery, the space and the quiet set-up ensure that you quickly get into the right rhythm here. Just being outside, without needing much extra.

Minicamping In 't Niet in Maasbree is one such place where tranquillity really plays the leading role. The campsite is located on the edge of nature reserve Dubbroek, between woods and agricultural fields. That makes this a fine base if you like waking up in green surroundings and prefer to spend a few days outdoors without much fuss. Everything here feels small, quiet and uncluttered. Just right if you are looking for peace, space and a few days of relaxation.

Editor's tip: Start quietly in Dubbroek and then slide into De Vermaekerij in Maasbree. First into the silence, then down for lunch or dinner. That fits this campsite exactly.
