1. Picking flowers in Griendtsveen at Pluktuin De Peel
For a Mother's Day outing with a leisurely pace, you're in the right place at Ecological Nature Pluktuin De Peel in Griendtsveen. The garden lies between water and woods, on the edge of De Peel. That is exactly what makes this place so nice: you do not rush from A to B, but stroll together along the flowers, pick your favourites and compose your own bunch on the spot. Just a bit more personal than a bouquet from the shop.
Afterwards, you can settle down on the Mediterranean terrace for a tea or cappuccino. Flowers on the table, sun on your face and plenty of time to catch up. That's all it needs to be sometimes.
When are you welcome?
Opening hours vary from week to week and are updated on the website. In season, there are fixed opening days on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, with occasional additional openings on Sundays or public holidays.
Editor's tip
Bring your own bag or basket for flowers. Then your home-picked bunch will stay beautiful on the way home.

2. Drinking tea and catching up at Tea Garden Vanilla in Broekhuizen
Sometimes an outing doesn't have to be complicated. A nice table, something tasty to go with it and, above all, time to catch up together are often enough, and you'll have that feeling at Tea Garden Vanilla in Broekhuizen. The tea garden is located on the edge of the Schuitwater and is known for homemade cakes, patisserie, coffee and fresh tea. You can also enjoy a small lunch here.
Extra fun for Mother's Day: Vanilla is known in the region for its high tea, with savoury snacks, scones, luxury pastries and various teas. So it won't be a quick cup of tea, but real enjoyment together. Nice and quiet, with another round of tea.
When are you welcome?
The tea garden is open Friday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
Editor's tip
Book in time if you go for high tea. Mother's Day is one of those days when more people have the same good idea. And honestly: here, you don't want to have to rush.

3. Coffee, cake and more browsing at Hip & Cozy in Mook
Hip & Cozy in Mook is one of those places where it's easy to linger with your mum. You drink coffee, tea or something soft, choose something from the homemade cake, sit down for a bowl of soup or a sandwich and can end the afternoon with a drinks board. Sounds good, right?
What makes this place extra nice is the combination of coffee and tea house with small lifestyle shop. You're here in an old barn in the outskirts of Mook, overlooking the greenery and the Mookerhei nearby. Great after a walk, but also just as a destination in itself. Just browse around, order something tasty and maybe take home a little present.
When are you welcome?
Hip & Cozy is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
Tip from the editors
Combine your visit with a walk in the surroundings of the Mookerhei. Afterwards, coffee with something sweet tastes just that little bit better. And do you see something beautiful in the shop? Then you will immediately have a lasting memento of your day.

4. Together through the gardens at Kasteeltuinen Arcen
Looking for an outing that really suits Mother's Day? Then Kasteeltuinen Arcen is a great choice. Open in 2026 from 28 March to 1 November, the park features more than 15 different gardens around a historic castle. You'll stroll together through rose gardens, water gardens and flowery borders, with ever-changing views along the way.
Right here on Sunday 10 May 2026 is also Mother's Day Hat Day. During that day, there will be extra activities such as live music, fashion stalls, fashion shows and a hat contest. This will give your day just a little more festivity, without it having to feel too busy or grand. First look, then stroll, then settle down somewhere. A happy Mother's Day can be that simple.
When are you welcome?
Kasteeltuinen Arcen will be open daily from 10am to 6pm in 2026, from 28 March to 1 November, with the exception of 18 to 21 September. Mother's Day Hat Day will take place on Sunday 10 May 2026 from 10am to 6pm.
Editor's tip
Make it a real day out. Put on shoes you enjoy walking in, take your time for the different gardens and agree that no one looks at the clock. Those are often the best days.

5. Picking, drinking tea and taking a break in Grashoek
Want to combine flowers, fruit and a tea garden in one outing? Then Pluk- en Theetuin In de 7e Hemel in Grashoek is a very fine one. This place is all about space, peace and nature. In season, you can pick your own flowers and fruit there. Afterwards, coffee or tea with homemade flan awaits. Just right, just as you'd hope.
You are also welcome there for lunch, although reservations are smart as capacity is limited. Extra nice: there is a covered outdoor terrace and a conservatory. Handy if the weather turns out just a little different than hoped. For a mother-daughter day, mother-son outing or an afternoon with the whole family, this is one of those places where you automatically linger a bit longer. They also have a perfect Mother's Day promotion, where your mother gets pastries for free if you come for drinks and pastries with 4 or more people. Definitely worth it, then.
When are you welcome?
In season, from mid-May to mid-October, the picking and tea garden is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm.
Editor's tip
Make it a little nature tour. From Grashoek you can walk straight into the Marisberg nature reserve. Stretch your legs together among the pine trees, then settle back for coffee and flan. Just the way a day like this should be.

6. Take a break at Milsbeek teahouse
If you and your mum prefer to opt for a low-key stop during a walk or bike ride, then Teahouse Milsbeek is a fine candidate. The teahouse is located on Bloemenstraat in Milsbeek, right opposite the walking and cycling area near the Genneperhuys. This is precisely why it fits in well with a quiet day together: first spend some time outside, then have a drink and chat some more.
It all doesn't have to be complicated here. Bike against a fence, coat over the seat and sit down together for a while. With a cup of tea or coffee on the side, such a stopover soon feels like the most enjoyable part of the route.
When are you welcome?
Teahouse Milsbeek is open from Thursday to Monday from 12:00 to 18:00.
Editor's tip
Use this site as a stopover on a walk or bike ride in and around Milsbeek. Start with a round outside, end with something warm on the table. This is an excellent Mother's Day plan.
