Sometimes you’ll be right by the water, watching the boats sail past. Sometimes the river is a little further away, with woods, villages and cycle routes just around the corner.

For this selection, we looked at campsites and motorhome sites in North Limburg that are situated directly by the water or from which you can easily access the River Meuse. In doing so, we took into account location, type of campsite, facilities and opportunities for walking and cycling. Opening times, camping seasons and facilities are subject to change. You should therefore always check the latest information with the campsite before you set off.
1. Camping ’t Eyveld in Beesel
In Beesel, you can enjoy small-scale, spacious camping at Camping ’t Eyveld. The campsite is situated in the ‘Dragon Village’ of Beesel, not far from the River Meuse between Venlo and Roermond. It offers fifteen spacious camping pitches, a walkers’ field, motorhome pitches, short-stay pitches and holiday homes. It’s ideal if you don’t want to stay at a large holiday park but would still like to have a village and amenities nearby. Another plus: from Beesel, you can easily cycle or walk to the River Maas, the Swalm or the centre of Beesel.
Local tip: cycle over to the River Maas and take a short tour of Beesel whilst you’re there. From the campsite, you can reach the river in about ten minutes by bike.
When are you welcome? From 1 April to 1 October, the campsite is open to caravans, tents and trailer tents. Motorhomes are welcome all year round.

2. Beesel aan de Maas motorhome site
Want to park your campervan as close to the river as possible? The Beesel campervan site on the Maas is quietly situated in the countryside, within walking distance of the Maas and the Swalm. There are paved pitches with electricity and grassy pitches. It’s not a large holiday park – just park your campervan and set off. Take a stroll along the water’s edge, hop on your bike or simply enjoy the peace and quiet in front of your campervan.
Local tip: take a detour towards the Swalm. It’s a lovely change of scenery alongside the Meuse and can easily be combined with a short cycle route.
When are you welcome? The motorhome site is open all year round and offers 24-hour check-in. Bookings are possible but not compulsory.

3. Camping Oda Hoeve in Kessel
At Camping Oda Hoeve in Kessel, you can camp at an SVR campsite close to the River Meuse. There are spacious camping pitches and motorhome spaces. The location is particularly ideal if you want to combine the great outdoors with a visit to Kessel. The River Meuse and the village are nearby. This is the place to come for the River Meuse. Camping ’t Veerhuys in Blitterswijck stretches out along the river. From various spots, you can look out over the water and watch the boats drift peacefully by. There’s also plenty of space outside the campsite to get out and about. The surrounding area is ideal for walks and cycle rides through the countryside and along the Meuse. Tip: hop on a bike and explore the area around Blitterswijck. Here, the river, villages and green spaces alternate naturally.

5. Leukermeer Holiday & Resort in Well
Sand beneath your feet, water on your doorstep and plenty to do. Vakantie & Resort Leukermeer is situated right on the shores of Lake Leukermeer and close to the River Meuse. From the lake, you can sail to the river in just a few minutes. Here you’ll find more facilities than at the smaller campsites on this list. That makes Leukermeer ideal if you like to alternate a day by the water with cycling or walking. De Maasduinen National Park is nearby. Our tip for the area: cycle to the Reindersmeer or the De Maasduinen Visitor Centre. That way, you can combine water and nature in a single day.

6. Hoeve de Maasduinen mini-campsite in Wellerlooi
Prefer trees and tranquillity to a busy holiday park? Minicamping Hoeve de Maasduinen in Wellerlooi is set amidst lush greenery, with views of De Maasduinen National Park. You won’t be camping right on the banks of the Maas here, but you will be right in the heart of the landscape that characterises this region. You can set off on a walk or cycle ride straight from the campsite. For a day by the water, the Leukermeer and Reindersmeer lakes are nearby. Fancy camping in the countryside yet still be close to Venlo? Stadscamping De Weerd is situated right on the River Maas in Velden, close to the city. The campsite is set in green, peaceful surroundings. From your pitch, you can easily hop on a bike for a ride along the river. Fancy a bit more action? Then you can combine your day at the campsite with a visit to a market, a museum or lunch in Venlo. An added bonus: dogs are welcome on the camping pitches.

At Stadscamping De Weerd in Velden, you can camp in a green and spacious setting, in a spot where you can hop straight onto your bike. Head into town, along the river or out into the countryside. You can choose from a range of camping pitches, with or without electricity, and even with private toilet facilities.
8. Hovershof in Velden
Hovershof is a farm and mini-campsite in Velden, between Venlo and Arcen. The campsite is situated directly on the Pieterpad and not far from the River Meuse. This lovely spot is perfect for you if you enjoy camping in a peaceful, rural setting. At the same time, there are plenty of options for exploring. Walk a section of the Pieterpad or cycle towards Arcen, Venlo or the Maasduinen. As well as camping pitches, Hovershof also offers bed and breakfast accommodation and holiday homes. Tip: cycle towards Arcen or Venlo along the River Maas. In both directions, there are plenty of lovely stops for a half-day or full-day outing.

Camping Hovershof is one such fine spot in Velden where you can camp peacefully among farm atmosphere, greenery and outdoor air. Here you are right on the Pieterpad, close to the Meuse river, with nostalgic sanitary facilities, a playground and all the space you need to have a nice landing.
9. Camping Boszicht in Lottum
Camping Boszicht is situated amongst the fields on the outskirts of Lottum. It is a small, peaceful campsite with spacious pitches and toilet facilities. The River Maas isn’t right on your doorstep, but it is close by. This makes Boszicht a lovely base for cycle rides through the countryside and towards the river. Did you know that Lottum is known as the ‘rose village’? So there’s plenty to discover around the village itself too.
When are you welcome? In the 2026 season, the camping season runs from 30 March to 26 October. Always check the current arrival and departure conditions before you set off.
Good to know: you cannot arrive on Sundays, but you can depart.

10. Camping De Oude Barrier in Smakt-Venray
Camping De Oude Barrier is situated in a wooded area near Smakt and Venray. The campsite is small-scale and child-friendly. During the summer months, there is a swimming pool and sports fields. There is also plenty to do outside the campsite. The Pieterpad and the Boschhuizerbergen nature reserve are nearby. Our tip for a longer cycle ride: head towards Landgoed Geijsteren and the River Maas. That way, you can combine woodland, village and river in a single day.
When are you welcome? The campsite is open from 1 April to 30 October. Check-in is from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm on the day of arrival. Check-out is from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm on the day of departure.
