Sit outside with a cup of coffee and watch what’s sailing past on the Maas. At Camping ’t Veerhuys in Blitterswijck, you can camp right by the river. The elongated site lies directly on the water’s edge, and from various spots you have a view of the Maas.
Who is this a real getaway for?
Camping ’t Veerhuys is ideal for cyclists, motorhome owners and couples who enjoy staying by the water. The River Maas is literally right on your doorstep, and the cycle and foot ferry departs from the campsite. This means you can easily cross the river to continue cycling or walking on the other side.
There are facilities for families too. There is a playground, a table tennis table and a paddling pool, which is open from May to October, weather permitting. Just don’t expect a large holiday park with an extensive entertainment programme. Here, it’s all about being outdoors, enjoying the River Meuse and getting out and about.
When will you visit?
Spring is lovely if you’re mainly coming for peace and quiet, cycling and walking. The campsite itself describes April and May as relatively quiet months. In the warmer months, life on and around the water really comes to life.
On a sunny day, you don’t have to go far, by the way. Go fishing by the water’s edge, watch the boats or take the ferry across the Meuse. Then head back to the campsite and pull up a chair at Tante Jet’s. No need to rush.

Our tip for your visit
Bring your bike and use the cycle and foot ferry at the campsite. That way, your cycle ride actually begins as soon as you cycle out of the campsite. On the other side, you can continue through the Meuse landscape and, later in the day, take the ferry back to Blitterswijck.
And afterwards? Sit outside, have a drink and simply watch the water.
