until 24 August 2028
In the atmospheric hands-on bakery at the Limburgse Vlaai Bakery Museum in Horst, you can step into the shoes of a traditional baker under the guidance of baker Ard.
Flour on the table, dough in your hands and, soon, the aroma of fresh vlaai fresh from the oven. At the Limburg Vlaai Bakery Museum in Horst, you’ll get to try your hand at making one of Limburg’s most famous flavours. And the best bit? You can simply take your own vlaai home with you afterwards.
What is the ‘Baking Limburg vlaai’ workshop?
During this baking workshop, you’ll learn how to make Limburg vlaai yourself under the guidance of baker Ard. It’s not just a demonstration where you stand and watch, but a hands-on session where you get stuck in and bake it yourself. There’ll be coffee or soft drinks during the session, and afterwards you can take your homemade vlaai home with you.
The workshop will take place in the ‘beleefbakkerij’ (experience bakery) at the Limburgse Vlaai Bakery Museum. This fits in perfectly with the venue: baker Ard will talk about his trade and showcase the history of the baking craft in the museum. The bakery in Horst has a history dating back to 1881.
Whether you’re coming with family, friends or colleagues, this is the sort of activity where you’ll naturally find yourselves working together. At the same time, you’ll also pick up a thing or two about the Limburg baking tradition. And yes, coming home with your very own vlaai is, of course, a lovely bonus.
