At Risja Gallery, you step into a colourful art universe among the greenery of Rijkel. Look around, buy handmade art or join a creative workshop. From teacups to curtains, everything here breathes art.
Who is this a real getaway for?
Risja Gallery is fine for curious art viewers, girlfriends who want to do something creative together, families with children and teams looking for something different from a standard outing. You don't have to be an art connoisseur. Just look, make, laugh and leave with paint or clay on your hands.
When will you visit?
On a chilly day, this is one of those places where you get lost inside among colour, textiles, ceramics and paintings. In spring and summer, the rural location in Rijkel is extra nice: first look around the gallery, then stroll along the greenery and the Meuse.
What to expect.
You enter a gallery and workshop where everything is art. Risja creates paintings, ceramics, furniture, clothes and small objects, often inspired by Limburg's nature. Did you know that she was accepted as a self-taught artist at the Royal College of Art in London? You can feel that: free, individual and full of colour.
For a leisurely gallery visit, count on about 45 minutes to an hour. If you attend a workshop, you will usually spend 2 to 3 hours, depending on what you book. The gallery is located rural in Rijkel near Beesel, with greenery around you and a peaceful atmosphere. Parking is available at the venue. Dogs and accessibility are not clearly stated, so check in advance directly with Risja. For workshops, coffee, tea and some goodies are often available; if you have dietary requirements, please mention them when booking.
When are you welcome?
The gallery is open for visits on Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 5pm. Workshops are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. On other days, you can visit by appointment only.
Our tip for your visit
Also walk by 't Kunstwinkeltje at the road. There you will find small works of art, mugs, cards and pendants. Fine for a gift that's not everywhere.

Combine Risja Gallery with the Draakexpedition in Beesel. First get your hands in clay or paint, then head outside to search for the story of the dragon. That mix of imagination, making and walking is gold. https://www.in-noordlimburg.nl/en/locaties/824097196/draakexpeditie

"Wonderful gallery where the love of expression pops off."
No way. Precisely not. The workshops are low-threshold and sociable. You get explanations and work step by step on something of your own. Fun as a girlfriends' outing, team day or just because you feel like trying something new.
Yes. The gallery and small art shop features paintings, ceramics, jewellery, cards and other handmade artwork. Many pieces are unique, so poking around always pays off.
Secure. The gallery is quietly located in Rijkel, close to Beesel and the river Meuse. This makes it easy to combine a visit with a walk, lunch nearby or the Draake expedition through the village. Especially on a quiet Saturday, that really is one of those golden days away together.
