Spring is the perfect time to be here. Sunshine on the square, a drink in your hand and the first taste of the season on your plate. But even on a chilly day, it’s nice and warm and lively indoors. A spot of shopping in Venlo, a stroll along the Maas and then settling down at Mert 5? Sounds good, doesn’t it?
What to expect.
At Mert 5, it’s all about pure flavours, seasonal produce and a relaxed atmosphere. During the asparagus season, you’ll immediately notice this on the menu, with a variety of dishes centred around this ‘white gold’ – ranging from classic to surprising. Did you know that the name Mert 5 refers to the historic market square right in the middle of which you’re sitting? So you’re literally dining in the heart of Beesel.
Allow about 1.5 hours for lunch and 2 to 3 hours for dinner if you want to linger. You’ll be sitting right in the middle of the square, with a view of the lively city life. You can park in one of the nearby car parks and walk straight to the terrace from there. Dogs are usually welcome on the terrace; please check inside upon arrival. The restaurant is accessible, and it’s best to let them know about any dietary requirements in advance so the kitchen can take them into account.

You’re welcome here almost every day from late morning until the evening. For lunch, join us around midday, and in the evening, dinner continues in a cosy atmosphere. Do check the current opening times in advance, as these may vary slightly depending on the season.

Grab a spot on the terrace at the end of the afternoon and order an asparagus dish with a good glass of wine. Then simply stay put until dinner turns into a long evening. You don’t want to rush a moment like that.
