De Gerdeneer

De Gerdeneer in Venlo-Boekend is a local shop, cidery, fresh produce market and tasting room all in one. Here, you can taste Limburg in a glass of cider, a slice of cheese, fresh vegetables and all those local delicacies.

Who is this a real getaway for?

De Gerdeneer is ideal for anyone who enjoys sampling local produce, taking a leisurely look around and taking home something that isn’t off a standard shelf. Heading out together, picking out something tasty, taking part in a tasting session or filling your cycle bag with local produce: here, even a trip to the shops feels almost like a little day out.

When will you visit?

Pop in on a sunny day to enjoy the orchard terrace, or even when the weather isn’t quite so cooperative. You’ll still be nicely sheltered under glass in the tasting greenhouse. In spring and summer, a fresh cider tastes particularly good here, but even in the colder months it’s a lovely spot to stop for a coffee, local delicacies and a browse round the shop.

What to expect.

At De Gerdeneer, you step into a world of local flavours, craftsmanship and fresh produce from nearby. The local shop is situated in Venlo-Boekend and is stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables, ciders, liqueurs, Limburg wines, cheeses, peanut butter and a very extensive range of artisanal local products. Outside, the orchard terrace awaits; inside, the ‘tasting greenhouse’: a glass-enclosed terrace for days when the sun is a bit shy.

Cider is no afterthought here. Since 2015, De Gerdeneer has been making cider from 100% freshly pressed apple juice, using apples from authentic Limburg standard-tree orchards. Did you know that they use only Limburg apples? You can taste it: fresh, pure and with a story from the region.

The atmosphere is friendly and down-to-earth. You can tell there’s a real love here for small-scale producers, unique products and flavours you won’t find just anywhere. Have a taste, have a browse, ask what’s fresh today. Simply good.

Why this will be your favourite stop in the region

De Gerdeneer is situated in Venlo-Boekend, just outside the hustle and bustle of the city. This makes it easy to combine the best of both worlds: greenery and a real sense of the region on the one hand, and Venlo close by on the other. It’s the sort of place where you don’t just buy something, but also take a little something of the region home with you. A chat, a sample bottle, a tip for when you get home. That’s exactly what makes this stop so typical of North Limburg. Choose between a tasting session or a walking package. De Gerdeneer is situated in the peaceful village of Venlo-Boekend, where you can leave the city behind for a while and experience the green outskirts of Venlo.

Parking is conveniently available at the venue; be sure to follow the brown tourist signs marked ‘De Gerdeneer’ and ignore house number 105 if your sat-nav isn’t quite guiding you correctly. Regarding dietary requirements and allergies: these will be taken into account for package deals if you mention them when making your booking.

Combine De Gerdeneer with Kasteeltuinen Arcen. First, sample local flavours in Venlo-Boekend, then take a stroll through more than 15 gardens surrounding a 17th-century castle.
