Hanssenhof Recreational Farm

Hanssenhof is one such peaceful spot on the edge of the Heldense Bossen where you can enjoy camping among greenery, space and clean facilities. You are close to the centre of Helden here, but above all you feel the peace of the forest and the outdoors.

Who is this a real getaway for?

This is a fine place for seniors, peace seekers, hikers and cyclists who like to stay small and well-cared for. According to its own site, Hanssenhof was created specifically for seniors, and ACSI also calls the campsite really aimed at 55+. If you are not looking for a busy holiday park but a place where you can relax, this is the place to be.

When will you visit?

From spring onwards, it feels right at home here, precisely because you can walk straight into the forest or grab a bike for a tour of the region. In summer, it's great if you like living outdoors but don't want to be in the middle of the crowds. And even in September, this is another place where peace and nature come together in an extra fine way.

What to expect.

You camp here on a spacious, well-tended campsite on 600 hectares of forest, with great attention to peace and cleanliness. The site is beautifully landscaped and the sanitary facilities are remarkably praised on several platforms. Did you know that Hanssenhof was set up especially for senior citizens back in 2004? You can feel this in the peaceful atmosphere and spacious layout.

For a few nights, you'll be right here, but a week or longer will also fit in very nicely. You stay on the outskirts of Helden, right by the Heldense Bossen and within walking distance of the village. The centre of Helden is about a fifteen-minute walk and Panningen about a ten-minute bike ride away. Dogs are welcome on the campsite, with a maximum of two per pitch, and the forest is perfect for letting them out for a while. For disabled guests, this is also a pleasant spot, as ACSI lists the campsite as suitable for the disabled. When it comes to food and dietary requirements, you're on your own here: you camp at your own pace and for shopping you can easily walk or cycle to Helden or Panningen. If you choose one of the simple guest rooms, it is good to know that no breakfast or meals can be prepared there and that pets are not allowed.

When are you welcome?

Hanssenhof is open from 1 April to 30 September. Arrivals are from Monday to Saturday between 12:00 and 18:00 and on Sunday between 12:00 and 15:00. Other times are possible by arrangement. In addition, the price page states that departure is before 11.00 am.

Our tip for your visit

Don't just pitch up here to spend the night, but really get out into the Heldense Bossen. Precisely because the forest literally borders the campsite, a morning walk or quiet evening round here feels extra nice. That's when you really notice how nice this location is.
