Delve into the flower pot industry of yesteryear at Museum De oude Pottenbakkerij in Milsbeek
From the 1950s, Milsbeek was the hub of the flowerpot industry in the Netherlands. Thanks to its location on the river Meuse and easy accessibility, the village grew into a centre full of potteries and small factories. That rich history lives on in the restored wood-fired pot kiln, complete with characteristic chimney, the last of its kind in the Netherlands. In 2010, the restoration was completed and a small museum on Milsbeek's potteries also took shape. There is also a focus on the brick factory, which closed its doors in 2008. There are regular exhibitions and workshops by ceramists, so that the craft remains visible and experienceable even today. A visit to this special piece of industrial history shows how clay and craftsmanship put Milsbeek on the map.
