This idyllic, whitewashed dream farmhouse with a thatched roof is situated on a quiet country lane right on the edge of the wood. The two luxury guest apartments offer plenty of privacy, a private terrace and views of a charming garden with farm animals.
Who is this a real getaway for?
This is the place for you if you enjoy seeking out tranquillity together. Think of couples who like to alternate walking and cycling with a leisurely breakfast on the terrace. If you also enjoy small-scale accommodation, nature on your doorstep and personal contact with the owners, this place is a perfect fit for you.
When will you visit?
In spring, you can hear the farmyard and the woods around the farm coming back to life. Summer is perfect for long cycle rides and evenings on your own terrace. In autumn, the woods take on their autumnal colours and it’s lovely to come home after a walk. Even in winter, this is the perfect place to spend a few quiet days together.
What to expect.
At Droomboerderijtje de Kamp, it’s all about a peaceful stay amidst woods, fields and country life. The white, thatched farmhouse with blue shutters is situated on a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Merselo. Anton, Diana and Robin have lived here since 2003 and welcome guests in two self-catering flats, each with its own entrance, terrace and garden area.
You can choose between the Voorhuis apartment and the Stal apartment, both suitable for one or two people. The Voorhuis has a nostalgic and homely feel, with a south-facing terrace and views over the paddock. The more spacious Stable Flat is almost entirely on one level and, in addition to a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, also features an infrared sauna which can be booked as an optional extra. Both accommodation options feature made-up box-spring beds, and kitchen and bathroom linen are included.
Outside, you can hear birds, see animals in the yard and stroll straight towards the woods and the Loobeek Valley. The owners are happy to show you around the area, and there are walking and cycling routes available. Did you know that De Kamp is mentioned on maps dating back to 1803, when it was still a sheepfold? It is precisely this combination of history, nature and personal hospitality that gives this place its peaceful character.
Why this will be your favourite stop in the region
Anton, Diana and Robin know their local area well and are happy to help you find peaceful walking and cycling routes. From the flat, you can walk straight into the woods, and the Loobeek Valley is nearby. Venray is also about five kilometres away. This makes it easy to combine the tranquillity of the Merselo countryside with the local shops, outdoor cafés and cultural attractions.
Practical info
Given the leisurely pace of this place, a couple of nights is ideal. During the high season, from May to October, the flats are let on a weekly basis and Saturday is the fixed arrival day. During part of the low season, stays of two nights or more are also possible. Merselo is small, green and rural, with fields, woodland and quiet roads surrounding the village.
Dogs and other pets are not permitted in the apartments. Both properties are indicated by the owner as unsuitable for people with reduced mobility. The Stalappartement is, apart from a small step up and down, on one level. You can cook in your own fully equipped kitchen.
When are the gates open?
The standard arrival time is on Saturdays between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm. On your departure day, you have until 10.30 am at the latest to check out. Other arrival or departure times may sometimes be possible by arrangement. In the low season, other lengths of stay may also be discussed.
Our tip
Are you staying in the Stalappartement? Then book the infrared sauna straight away. After a long walk through the Loobeek Valley, you won’t need to go anywhere else. Put on your bathrobe, warm up and round off the evening in peace and quiet.
Small check beforehand
We do our best to provide you with the right info, but before leaving, always check the site's own website for the very latest updates.
