In spring and summer, the crossing feels like a little holiday moment: wind through your hair, sun on the water and Kessel in sight. In autumn and winter, on the other hand, the ferry is cool and quiet, with grey Maas air and the villages warmly nearby.
What to expect.
The Kessel-Beesel ferry takes you from one bank of the Meuse to the other in just a few minutes. No bridge, no detour – just a peaceful crossing of the river. You drive, cycle or walk onto the ferry and watch the Meuse glide past beneath you. On one side lies Kessel, with the striking De Keverberg Castle towering above the river. On the other side, Beesel awaits, with Reuver and the green Maasland nearby.
The ferry service is operated by Ton Paulus Veerbedrijf. The ferry has a load capacity of 100 tonnes and a maximum vehicle weight of 45 tonnes, so cars, campervans, vans and agricultural vehicles can also use the crossing.
