Who is this a real getaway for?

Restaurant LEF is there for people who like to dine quietly and well. For couples celebrating, friends who want to catch up and gourmets who like surprising flavours without fuss. Also, if you like eating in a place with character, this is the place to be.

When will you visit?

Stop by on an evening when you're not in a hurry. In summer, slide in after a walk along the Meuse or a visit to Reuver. In autumn and winter, the vaulted cellar feels extra cosy. Rain outside? Then a good glass of wine tastes even nicer here.

What to expect.

At Restaurant LEF, you step into a special corner of Reuver. The restaurant is situated at the foot of St Lambert’s Church, in the vaulted cellar of the former town hall. You can feel it straight away: thick walls, an intimate atmosphere and tables where you’ll want to linger a little longer.

Chef Jop Janssen takes you on a culinary journey featuring pure ingredients, seasonal flavours and dishes served with care. No fuss, just a kitchen with ambition. The menu changes in line with what the region and the season have to offer. For groups of six or more, LEF offers a surprise menu or a bespoke menu proposal. Lunch is also available, but by reservation only.

Why this will be your favourite stop in the region

Reuver has that fine Maasdorp feeling: green close by, the river Maas nearby and plenty of places to stroll around. LEF adds its own unique touch. You don't just eat in a restaurant here, but in a historic cellar in the middle of the village. That makes your evening just that little bit more special, without being stiff.

Allow around two to three hours for a dinner at LEF, especially if you opt for a multi-course meal or a wine pairing. Reuver is a cosy spot between Venlo and Roermond, with the River Meuse and the greenery of Beesel nearby. Parking is available in the vicinity of the town centre. For dogs, accessibility and dietary requirements, it’s advisable to get in touch in advance, as the historic cellar and the menu may vary from time to time. For the latest offers and packages, it’s best to check the LEF website.

When are the gates open?

LEF is usually open from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Opening times are subject to change, so always check the website before you set off or book online straight away.

Our tip

Opt for the surprise menu and have your glass topped up with a matching wine pairing. It is precisely in that vaulted cellar that dining truly becomes an evening-long moment of enjoyment.

Region tip: The icon in the neighbourhood

Combine a visit to LEF with Kloosterdorp Steyl, a unique village on the River Maas with monasteries, gardens, museums and quiet spots brimming with stories. First, wander through Steyl, then take a seat in LEF’s cellar: that’s a lovely blend of tranquillity, history and good food.

Make a day or night of it!

From LEF, it takes about 15 minutes to drive to the Steyl Mission Museum. By bike, it takes about half an hour. There, you step into a real time capsule with collections from all over the world.

Staying overnight? Then Maashof in Venlo is about a 20-minute drive or a 50-minute cycle away. It’s a great option if you want to combine your evening at LEF with a relaxing night surrounded by nature.
