Who is this a real getaway for?

Jochumhof is wonderful for you if you are happy with peace, greenery and places with a story. Fine for walkers, gardeners, photographers, couples and anyone who wants to experience Steyl in a different way. Even if you don't need to know everything about plants, this is a nice place. It is precisely the atmosphere that makes a visit here so strong: sheltered, quiet and yet full of little surprises.

When will you visit?

This garden feels good in every season, but in a different way each time. In spring and summer, everything is in full bloom and you automatically want to linger longer. In autumn, the old trees and soft light add atmosphere to the garden. And even on a quiet weekday, this is one of those places where you really get away from the hustle and bustle.

What to expect.

At Jochumhof Botanical Garden, you will wander through a special collection of ancient, exotic and native plants, divided into several sub-gardens. You will pass, among others, the rock garden, herb garden, botanical garden, Tigli garden and the greenhouses with Mediterranean plants and cacti. Did you know that missionaries once brought seeds from all over the world to Steyl, and that this garden grew out of them? You can still feel that in the mix of history and greenery.

For your visit, one and a half to two hours is a fine guideline, especially if you also settle down in the grand café or on a terrace. The atmosphere around the garden is quiet and special, in the middle of the monastery village of Steyl and with a beautiful view of the Meuse. If you come by car, you can park on Museumplein, on Veerweg along the wall or on Michaelstraat. For dogs and full accessibility, the consulted visitor pages do not have a clear separate overview, so contacting us in advance is smart for that. For dietary requirements, it's also handy if you want something to eat or drink in the grand café.

When are you welcome?

The garden itself is open every day from 11am to 5pm. The catering facilities have different opening hours. On the contact page, the catering facilities are open at least on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10.30am to 5pm and on Sundays from 10am to 5pm. Mondays and Wednesdays, the catering facilities are closed.
