Who is this a real getaway for?
MAND! is ideal for friends and couples who like to combine sitting outdoors with something active. Even if you’re walking or cycling through Gennep and simply looking for a relaxing stop-off, this is the place for you. You don’t have to go stand-up paddleboarding, by the way. Just settling down by the water is just as good.
When will you visit?
A dry, sunny afternoon is the perfect time to visit this spot. You can find a chair on the decking or a spot on the grass and look out over the Niers. On warm days, you can easily combine a visit to the terrace with an hour’s stand-up paddleboarding. MAND! is a seasonal venue and may be used from April to October in 2026.
What to expect.
MAND! is exactly the sort of place where your plans easily end up taking a little longer. You settle down by the River Niers, choose a seat on the deck or find a spot amongst the greenery, and watch the canoeists and stand-up paddleboarders glide past. For a drink or a bite to eat, you can pop over to the serving point yourself. After that, you’ll have all the time in the world.
The concept is a collaboration between Kanook and Bij Koos. Paul Terpstra brings his experience on the water, whilst Brenda from Bij Koos takes care of the culinary side. On the menu you’ll find, amongst other things, coffee, fresh sandwiches, wine and speciality beer. It is precisely this combination that makes MAND! more than just a terrace.
Fancy getting out on the water yourself? You can hire a SUP board by the hour here. There’s no set route. You set off from MAND!, decide for yourself how far you want to explore the Niers, and return within your hire time. Did you know you don’t even need swimwear? Sportswear is fine, though a towel and a change of dry clothes are no luxury at all.
Don’t fancy getting wet? That’s fine too. A chair, a tasty treat and a view of the water are all you need for a lovely afternoon here.

MAND! combines two sides of North Limburg that complement each other surprisingly well: enjoying the peaceful outdoors whilst still getting out and about. You’re right on the banks of the Niers and, at the same time, close to the historic centre of Gennep. This makes it easy to fit in a drink by the water between a city walk, a cycle ride or an afternoon on the Niers. No complicated itinerary – just choose whatever takes your fancy at that moment.
Practical info
Allow about one to two hours for a leisurely stop on a terrace. If you hire a SUP as well, you can easily make a half-afternoon of it. Gennep has a compact historic centre through which the River Niers literally flows.
Parking in Gennep town centre is free. However, a blue zone applies in some areas. If you’re staying for longer than two hours, the Melkstraatje and various larger car parks around the town centre are convenient options.
