On warm summer days, Mookerplas is teeming with life. You can enjoy the beach, the clear swimming water and the water sports on offer. In spring and autumn, it’s wonderfully peaceful, and you can walk or cycle along the banks or across the Mookerheide. Even outside the beach season, this remains a lovely spot to get some fresh air.

As soon as you arrive at Mookerplas, you’ll realise why so many people love coming back here. The water glistens amongst the trees, children build sandcastles on the family beach, and rowing boats, canoes and SUP boards glide peacefully past on the lake. Here, you decide for yourself just how active your day will be. Hire a boat, go for a swim or find a quiet spot on the beach with a good book.
Around the lake, you’ll find cosy eateries and bars where you can enjoy lunch, an ice cream or a sumptuous dinner with a view over the water. There are also options for overnight stays at a campsite, motorhome site or even on a houseboat. This means a day out at Mookerplas can easily turn into a relaxing weekend break.

Mookerplas is situated in Plasmolen, right in the heart of the northernmost part of Limburg. From the beach, you can easily walk or cycle to the Mookerheide or explore the charming villages in the surrounding area. It is precisely this combination of water, nature and hospitality that makes this recreational area a popular destination for a full day out in the countryside.
It’s best to set aside half a day or a full day for a visit. Entry to Mookerplas is free, but there is a charge for parking. There are several car parks around the leisure area. Dogs are welcome, but the rules vary by season. From 1 October to 1 May, dogs are allowed to run free in large parts of the site. In summer, they are welcome on the special dog walking route outside the beach area. There are wheelchair-accessible parking spaces and accessible entrance gates.
When are the gates open?
Mookerplas is open every day from sunrise to sunset. If you’re coming by car, you can drive onto the site during these times. You can leave at any time.
