On a sunny day, the terrace beckons after a walk across the Sint-Jansberg or a stroll around the Mookerplas. Is it raining? Then look for a spot indoors with a view of the open kitchen. It’s also the perfect place for a long afternoon catching up, perhaps over high tea or a drinks package.

What to expect.

At Plein1, your visit begins in a relaxed atmosphere. You can choose a spot in the contemporary restaurant, on the mezzanine or outside on the terrace, overlooking the open kitchen. The team prepares breakfast, lunch and snacks using fresh, local ingredients. The menu features familiar favourites alongside changing seasonal dishes. Think eggs Benedict, generously topped focaccia, salads, pinsa and various lunch platters.

If you’re coming as a group, the lunch tasting is a lovely choice. You’ll share a platter of small savoury dishes, bread and mini croquettes. Prefer a longer meal? The high tea consists of three courses featuring soup, savoury snacks and sweet treats. For a relaxing afternoon, there’s also a package including drinks and a snack platter.

The atmosphere is cosy and well-kept, without being stuffy. You can pop in for coffee and apple tart, or make a booking for an afternoon with friends or family. The lunch menu is available until 4.00 pm. Did you know you can book online on the day itself until 12.00 pm? For groups of more than six people, Plein1 recommends giving them a quick call. That way, you can be sure there’s enough space for everyone to settle in together.

Practical info

Allow about an hour for coffee or breakfast. For a lunch tasting, high tea or a long drink, one and a half to two hours is more enjoyable. Plasmolen feels both green and lively, with the Mookerplas, walking routes and various catering establishments nearby.

You can park in the public car park at the junction of Muldershofweg and Witteweg. Plein1 does not publish up-to-date details regarding dogs or specific accessibility enquiries, so please contact them in advance regarding these matters. The menu features vegetarian dishes and a burger that can also be prepared as vegan. A separate allergen menu is available for those with allergies; please specify any dietary requirements when making your booking.

On 19 and 20 September 2026, Keramisto will take place at the nearby Mookerplas. One hundred professional ceramicists will be presenting their work there. A visit to the festival can easily be combined with a coffee or lunch at Plein1.

When are the gates open?

You’re welcome from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 17.00. In June and July, Plein1 is also open on Tuesdays from 10.00 to 17.00. The lunch menu is served until 4.00 pm. For high tea, please book from Wednesday to Saturday from 2.00 pm onwards.

Our tip

Book the lunch tasting for two and take a walk around Sint-Jansberg beforehand. Afterwards, a platter full of small dishes will taste just that bit better. Round off your afternoon at Plasmolen with a seasonal drink on the terrace.
