The Klooster Christmas Market is a lovely December outing for families, couples, groups of friends and anyone who enjoys soaking up the Christmas atmosphere together. Children can look forward to fun activities, whilst you stroll leisurely past the stalls.

When will you visit?

Come along on Friday evening for twinkling lights and a cosy start to the weekend. On Saturday, from midday onwards, you’ll have plenty of time to look around, sample some tasty treats and soak up the winter atmosphere of Steyl.

What to expect.

During the Klooster Christmas Market, the charming town of Steyl is transformed into a cosy winter setting for two days. Strolling along Sint Michaëlstraat, you’ll find yourself amongst Christmas stalls, fairy lights and visitors peacefully browsing for a present or a tasty treat. The aroma of warm snacks and winter drinks is, of course, all part of the experience.

The programme is aimed at young and old alike. You can stroll past the stalls together, take part in activities and have your photo taken with Father Christmas. This makes the market great fun for families with children too. Do take your time, because a Christmas market feels just that little bit different amongst the historic monastery buildings of Steyl.

Allow about one and a half to two hours for the market. If you’d like to have a leisurely look around, grab a bite to eat and take part in activities, you can easily stay longer. Entry is free.

When are the gates open?

On Friday 18 December 2026, you are welcome from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm. On Saturday 19 December 2026, the Christmas market opens at 2.00 pm and the festivities continue until 10.00 pm.

Come along on Friday, just after the opening. That’s when you’ll see the lights come on; it’s often a bit quieter then, and you’ll have plenty of space to browse the stalls.
