He likes to sit on his couch. She only has her dog. He and she challenge each other. Are they getting closer to each other? Without words, but with music, movement and imagery, two strangers seek rapprochement. HUGS is a playful, visual and wordless performance about loneliness, (un)tolerance and friendship.
Two strangers, who at first glance have little in common, experience the ups and downs of making a new friendship. Making friends is not always easy. Sometimes it goes awkwardly, sometimes we make mistakes. HUGS reminds us that this is perfectly normal - and often very funny.
Theatre makers and actors Marieke Dilles and Femke Heijens create and perform this show. The rhythmic beats of Hannes d'Hoine form a third character. They bring the performance to life and create an energy that carries away the characters and the audience.
It is a conscious artistic choice to work with a fat suit as a costume for one of the characters.
trigger warning The music can sometimes get loud. Naturally, we adhere to the legal noise standards. A stroboscope is used during the performance.
