The greatest chansonnier of all time is not a Frenchman. It is a Belgian from Flanders who spoke French. A man from Schaarbeek who left hearth and home to achieve world fame in Paris. He then roamed the world, finally finding his peace on an island deep in the Pacific via Berlin, Moscow and New York. On Hiva Oa, he spent his last days. And that is also where he is buried.
For Rob Kemps, it is clear: Jacques Brel is the greatest of all. So after the success of Hemel op aarde, the subject for his next programme was already ready. In Don't Leave Me Alone, Rob now takes us around the world. In the footsteps of Brel. With as much humour as emotion, he talks about the music and especially the life of his hero. And thus also about his own life. Rob cannot do otherwise. Because a life without Brel is no life at all.
About Rob Kemps Rob Kemps is an entertainer and writer, known for the Snollebollekes and the TV programme Chansons! His fascination for Père-Lachaise cemetery led to the successful theatre performance Hemel op aarde (Heaven on Earth), in which, as an inspired storyteller, he takes the audience along stories full of history and personal memories. That tasted like more - so he is back with his new show Don't leave me alone.
