Opening of castle mill Baarlo

When enough water flows through the stream, this water mill runs every Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm. A great time to step back in time, the mill has belonged to the castle of the d'Erp de Baerlo family for centuries. In 1530 it was already spoken of, including the right to grind. This did not always happen automatically, as there was nowhere near enough water. Therefore, a windmill was added in 1801 and the watermill was given other functions. Over the years, the mill changed with the times: from water power to engines and later electricity. In 1962, the grinding stopped. When the Maasbree municipality bought the mill in 1970, it was carefully restored. The oldest part was preserved, the water wheel returned and today the mill can be seen and heard again during demonstrations.
