Merel Vercammen & Maya Fridman

Violinist Merel Vercammen and cellist Maya Fridman, known for their expressive chamber music playing, pay tribute to Sofia Gubaidulina and her Astreja ensemble, which focused on improvisation. They will play compositions from their album Rejoice, with works by composers who, like Gubaidulina, were inspired by nature, such as Vasks and Shalygin. Two-part inventions by Bach will also be heard as a starting point for improvisations in the spirit of Astreja. The tribute ends with Gubaidulina's powerful work 'Rejoice' for violin and cello.
