During Winter Magic Peel en Maas, Raadhuisplein in Panningen is transformed into a cosy winter destination. Right in the middle of the square is a covered ice rink made of real ice. Put on your gloves, step onto the ice and do a few laps together. Afterwards, warm up at one of the food and drink outlets.
The ice rink is located in the centre of Panningen and is indoor. This means you can get out on the ice even when the winter weather isn’t at its best. You can bring your own skates or hire a pair at the entrance.
Gloves are compulsory for everyone on the ice. Not only do they keep you nice and warm, but they’re also an important safety rule.
Winter Magic is about more than just ice skating. During the last edition, there were different activities on the programme every day. These included family days, disco skating, live music and a curling tournament. There were also opportunities for older people to skate at a quieter time, as well as a low-stimulus skating morning.
For children, it’s a lovely place to get some exercise during the Christmas holidays. Meanwhile, parents and grandparents can watch on or enjoy a drink together. This way, an afternoon’s ice skating naturally becomes a fun day out for the whole family.
After a few laps, cold fingers are quickly forgotten with something warm within easy reach. There are catering facilities around the ice rink, and parties, drinks receptions and music evenings are regularly organised.
