Baby Reindeer

NETFLIX HIT Thijs van de Meeberg The Netflix hit *Baby Reindeer* is coming to Dutch theatres! This true story offers an intimate and harrowing account of the five years during which comedian Richard Gadd was stalked. The tens of thousands of emails, hundreds of hours of voicemails and numerous encounters swung him back and forth between humiliation and longing, despair and suffocation. Gadd turned his experiences into a gripping one-man show and later starred in the lead role in the eponymous Netflix series, one of the streaming service’s most-watched and highest-rated series worldwide. Now, comedian Thijs van de Meeberg is stepping into the role of Gadd. This unique solo performance – raw and lively, with a sharp sense of humour – is being staged in the Netherlands for the first time. On the content of the show: “You meet someone who isn’t good for you, think: ‘I’ll end it next week’, but that doesn’t happen. Discovering what that does to you as a person is really fascinating.” On Richard Gadd: “I think it’s incredibly brave that Richard shared what he was feeling in this way. That he dared to write it down and that, in the end, staging it turned out to be a kind of way out.” On Thijs himself: “This is my first acting role; before this, it was mainly cabaret. The step from cabaret to the stage is quite a big one. Now that I can picture it, my main thought is: bring it on. I’ll give it my all on that stage.” This unique solo performance – raw and lively, with a sharp sense of humour – is being staged in the Netherlands for the first time.
