History and traditions of the militia in the monastery village of Steyl
One of Limburg’s folk cultural traditions brought together in a museum full of royal silver, colourful uniforms, giant banners and blunderbusses.
In the past, the militia had an official role as a civil guard tasked with protecting the town from attacks. The highlight of the year is the Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest in the summer.
