The 8 of Kessel: experience sport and heritage in the castle gardens of De Keverberg

On Saturday 11 July 2026, the historic castle gardens of Kasteel De Keverberg in Kessel will be buzzing with sport, tradition and conviviality. During ‘De 8 van Kessel’, you’ll discover centuries-old sports and games in a place where history is still palpable.
Watch the ‘beugelaars’ demonstrate their skills, cheer on participants during the spectacular Highland Games, or try your hand at one of the traditional sports. Mast climbing, tug-of-war and traditional Dutch games are also part of the programme.
There’s plenty for children to enjoy, with fun activities and school-organised events brimming with enthusiasm. Meanwhile, you can enjoy live music, demonstrations, workshops and a bite to eat or a drink in the convivial atmosphere of the castle gardens.
Whether you like to get involved yourself or prefer to watch from the sidelines, De 8 van Kessel brings sport, heritage and community together in a unique way. A lovely day out for young and old alike.
