On a summer’s evening in August, step into a different world at BACKSTAGE. Outside, the centre of Venlo is bustling; inside, work is underway on a new series. Come along on Tuesday 4 August or follow the creative process during several filming evenings from 4 to 8 August 2026.

What to expect.

During Ouwehoeren, BACKSTAGE transforms into the filming location for a new comedy series by Club Lam, produced in collaboration with L1 and Omroep Venlo. You’ll be right up close to the actors and see how scenes are filmed, re-shot and gradually take shape. This way, you’ll discover just how much timing, acting and collaboration are required before a series appears on screen.

The story follows two thirty-somethings who work in a bridal wear shop in the heart of Venlo. Every day they sell the same romantic fairy tale, whilst their own search for love consists mainly of awkward encounters, failed attempts and relatable dilemmas. Expect sharp humour, cringe-worthy situations and plenty of moments when you’ll think: ‘Yes, that really could have happened.’

Club Lam has been Maaspoort’s resident theatre company since 2023. This feminist theatre collective creates contemporary work that provokes, surprises and sparks conversation. Did you know that each recording evening focuses on a new episode? With a combined ticket, you can attend all five evenings and watch the series unfold step by step.

You don’t need to go to Hilversum to take a peek behind the scenes of a TV series. Here, you can simply experience it in the heart of Venlo. The intimate venue, the close proximity to the actors and the familiar Venlo surroundings make for an evening that feels different from a regular theatre performance. Afterwards, you’ll find yourself right among the cafés and terraces of the city centre in no time.

Practical info

The live recording will take place on Tuesday 4 August 2026 in the Piet Kingma Hall at BACKSTAGE. The evening begins at 8.15 pm and ends around 9.45 pm. A ticket costs €5. Please enter via the rear entrance at Peperstraat 31. There will also be recordings on Wednesday 5, Thursday 6, Friday 7 and Saturday 8 August.

Allow around two hours for your visit and make sure you arrive on time. BACKSTAGE is situated right in the heart of Venlo’s lively city centre. From Venlo station, it’s about a ten-minute walk to Maaspoort. Parking is available at Q-Park Maasboulevard and Q-Park Nolensplein, amongst others, both about a four-minute walk away. Evening visitors can book a discounted parking rate in advance.

Maaspoort has facilities for visitors with disabilities. Please let us know of any specific requirements when booking, so that the team can assist you. No specific information is provided regarding dogs for this booking. Please therefore contact us in advance if you are bringing an assistance dog. Dietary requirements do not apply during the stay, but you can extend your evening beforehand with a meal at Restobar SIN.

On Tuesday 4 August 2026, filming begins at 8.15 pm. The evening will finish at around 9.45 pm. The other filming evenings, from 5 to 8 August, will also start at 8.15 pm. When booking, please check carefully which episode and date you wish to attend.
